Origin:

Islay Mist finds its origin in 1927 on the most famous island of Islay, known as the Queen of Scotch Whisky: fertile, lush green, infused with dark peat. The character of the island is the character of Islay Mist. The world-famous Islay Mist Scotch Whisky owes its existence to a celebration held for the 21st birthday of the son (later Lord Margadale) of the Laird of Islay House. It was thought that for such an important celebration with guests from near and far, the famous Laphroaig single malt might be too heavy, so the Laphroag single malt was blended with selected high quality Highland malts including Glenlivet and balanced with Lowland grain. The result proved so popular that a similar bottling was marketed away under the name Islay Mist. The seal of the Lords of the Island - the Great Seal of Islay is proudly worn on the bottle. Islay Mist is the only blended Scotch that is allowed to carry the name Islay in its name.

Production:

Only quality single malts are blended in Islay Mist whisky. The blend is made from different whisky varieties from the Laphroag and Spyside distilleries on the island of Islay. Before the whisky is bottled, it is chill-filtered. In this process, the whisky is cooled down so that fine suspended particles "precipitate". These particles are then filtered out to produce a clear whisky.

Islay Mist - born on Islay - tastes like Islay - made with Islay Malt & the only blended Scotch allowed to carry the Islay name on the label.

Taste:

In keeping with the founding recipe of 1927, Islay Mist remains the original peat blend with characteristically balanced smoky tones between notes of gentle oak maltiness. Islay Mist is distinctive in taste. The peat smoke is its special note and almost only found on Islay. The smoky peaty taste composed with a gentle maltiness and sweetness in the background makes Islay Mist a special experience and is perfect for all beginners of peaty whisky. Its smoky malt character is of the highest quality. Famous whisky writers are advocates of its taste. Dave Broom: "He is a jewel - and I count on him". Numerous awards from international spirits competitions pay homage to its unique smoky, peaty flavour.
